Hello and happy Monday,
Wow, January is almost over and it feels like it just began! I pray that the Lord is helping you slow down this year and really savor every month. I hope that wherever this email finds you today you are able to make yourself a hot cup of tea and rest in Him as you start your week.
I finished reading the Book of Matthew this week and I always love reading what Jesus says at the end of this book. This passage has been appropriately named "The Great Commission". Jesus commanded His disciples and, consequently, you and I, to GO and make more disciples. He tells us to baptize people and to teach people to follow Jesus' teachings.
Now I wish I could tell you that this was only a command for the few people that Jesus was speaking to directly. But that is not the case. This is our command! This is also not just for people who are called to be pastors or missionaries. This isn't just for the people who feel comfortable standing on a street corner with a megaphone.
We are ALL called to be the ones to GO and make disciples, to baptize, and to teach. We do this by being the light of Jesus wherever we go. Being a stay-at-home mom is a ministry. Going to an office and inviting your coworkers to go to church with you is just as important in the Kingdom as the pastor with a microphone. Remember that God has given us each a unique calling and it is ALL important work.
A friend once told me that boldness looks different in each person. God created all of us unique with special gifts and talents. God doesn't ask you to change who He made you to be to follow the Great Commission. If God made you introverted or shy, that is just as beautiful and powerful as the extroverted person who loves making new friends. Your version of Unapologetically Bold will look different than mine and that is OK! Did God give you the gift of teaching, then teach? Did God give you the gift of writing or poetry, then you are commissioned to write for the Kingdom? Are you called to make beautiful art, to do well in business, to raise kids, then do all things with the heart of the Great Commission?
I pray that it encourages you and lights a fire in you to GO for the Kingdom!
