Hello and happy Monday!
I hope you had a great weekend and you are feeling rested to take on this new week! We are so blessed to have a full week ahead of us. I pray that this week is full of blessings and that you are filled with peace and joy.
We are getting closer to Easter and I wanted to continue our devotional series of looking at the gifts that we have been given becasue of Jesus' death and resurrection. Today I want to take some time to meditate on the victory that if found in Jesus.
As Christians, we have not been promised a comfy life full of rainbows and flowers. Trust me, I wish that was the case. But Jesus told us that we were going to face trials and battles in this life. As followers of Jesus, we are in full opposition to the devil and he will do everything that he can to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. We have a very real enemy and he doesn't play fair. If you are not currently in a battle, buck up buttercup, a battle is on its way to you soon. Not the encouragement you were hoping to hear on a Monday.
But if I could borrow the words of Jesus to bring some light to this devotional, I say to you "take heart!" We can have hope even in the battle becasue Jesus has overcome the world!
As Jesus shouted on the cross "IT IS FINISHED", Jesus once and for all defeated the devil. All sin, all death, all shame, all temptation, anything that is not of Christ was once and for all defeated.
So as we go through this world, the devil is still going to try to mess with us and try to convince us that he has power over us, but that is a lie! We have the same power that Jesus has living on the inside of us. We can walk in the same victory that Jesus has. God has won every battle and He won't fail now!
We fight every fright from victory, not for victory!
Here are a few ways to fight from victory when you are in the middle of the battle:
-Worship through the battle. Worship is our warcry in the face of the battle. When we worship, we invite God to invade our situation.
-Pray in the battle. Just like Moses lifted his hands in prayer as Joshua was fighting the Amalekites (Ex. 17:8-16), we can pray and war in the Spirit, and physical battles rage around us.
-Speak Scripture over the battle. The Bible is our sword. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He fought back with the Scripture that He had in His heart. Read the Bible and memorize verses to help you when you are in battle.
Pour yourself a cup of tea today and pray, worship, and memorize a verse to help you with the battle that you are facing today.
