Hello and happy Monday,
Happy March and the second week of Lent! Whether you are participating in Lent or not, I hope you are spending some time this season looking to Jesus and celebrating what He did for us.
Over the next few weeks leading up to Easter, I want to spend some time giving God thanks for a few things that have been given to us because of Jesus' death and resurrection. The first of these gifts is the forgiveness of sin.
Jesus came to this world as a baby. He was 100% God and 100% human. But unlike us humans, Jesus did not sin. He still was fully tempted like us, He faces sickness, heartbreak, and loss like we do. Satan himself tempted Jesus in the desert after Jesus fasted for a full forty days. By being completely sinless, Jesus was able to be the perfect lamb to be sacrificed for our sins. When Jesus went to the cross, He took on the sins of the entire world and paid the penalty that we deserved.
Throughout the Bible, we read that because of Jesus' sacrifice, all we need to do now is believe in Jesus and confess Him as our Lord, and ALL of our sins are forgiven FOREVER.
I want to remind you today that there is nothing you have done or could ever do to not be forgiven by Jesus. There is nothing that disqualifies you from laying hold of this gift. If you are holding onto shame or guilt because of your sin, please know that those things are not from the Lord. When you put your faith in Jesus, He casts your sins away as far as the east is from the west. Any shame or guilt is being placed on you by the devil. Forgiveness is a gift to us because of the cross.
As you go through your week, drink some tea and give Jesus praise and gratitude for this amazing gift of forgiveness!
