Keeping The Heart Of Christmas In The New Year

Keeping The Heart Of Christmas In The New Year

Hello and Happy Monday!

Welcome to the first full week of the New Year. As schedules get back to normal and we fall back into regular life, I want to encourage you to drink some tea and keep pressing into the Lord.

During the Christmas season, a lot goes on but many of us try to focus on Jesus and His birth. We sing songs, pay attention in church, and try to show Jesus's love to those around us. But then January comes and we can tend to lose sight of everything we just focused so well on in December. Yes, we celebrate the coming of Jesus on December 25th, but we should be living with the heart of Christmas all year long.

A passage that I felt like the Lord was highlighting to me this year was Isaiah 9:6

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Although this verse might be very familiar, the Lord spoke to me a lot about how Jesus was all of these things back when He was born in Bethlehem, but He STILL is these things today. Jesus is STILL our Wonderful Counselor, He is STILL our Mighty God, He is STILL our Everlasting Father, and, yes, Jesus is STILL our Prince of Peace. We can look to Jesus in January and lean on these promises that He was these things and He still is them today.

I hope as you go through your week that you keep the heart of Christmas still alive. Have a nice cup of tea and lean on Jesus today.

Peace and joy,

Kia Coquoz

"Jesus, I praise You today. Thank You, Jesus, for all that You did in the Christmas season. Thank You Jesus for the time that I got to spend with loved ones and time that I got to spend with You. Jesus, help me to remember Your birth all year long. As I get back into my normal schedule, help me to keep my eyes on you. Please pour out Your peace and joy on me so I can pour it out to those around me. Lord, Your will be done in my week. Amen."
